The question: how big is this supposed to get?
"This" being Ecoand, but honestly also the photography, the writing, the archive, all of it. Every advisor, investor, and well-meaning uncle asks some version of the growth question, and I give a fluent answer that changes depending on the month, which is how I know I do not actually have one.
Here is the honest inventory of what I know:
I know I want the products in more homes, because the customer at the sink convinced me the thing we make matters at the level of a household's daily texture. More households, more of that. Simple.
I know I do not want to run a company where I cannot attend the refill events, because the refill events are where the information is. The day the table is staffed entirely by people reading a script is the day the company starts lying to itself.
I know that "small on purpose" can be a real strategy or a pre-written excuse for stalling, and that from the inside the two are nearly indistinguishable. This is the part that actually worries me.
Maybe the question is not "how big" but "what has to stay true at every size." I can list those things. The list is short and non-negotiable, and possibly that list is the answer.
The list, for the record: the scent stays consistent. The refills stay cheaper than the first bottle. Somebody who makes decisions still physically stands at the table once a month. The writing on the label stays honest enough to read aloud.
